These are some very interesting wheels indeed! Grand Prix likes to refer to these as 'tires' and not wheels because like automotive tires you can replace only the actual urethane skin as needed. The urethane tire mounts to a two piece machined aluminum rim that holds three(yes three) bearings per wheel. This wheel (tire) may offer several advantages over conventional downhill wheels: 1 = You are able to quickly replace the hardness and size of your urethane tire as weather conditions change. 2 = You are now riding on three bearings as compared to the standard 2 per wheel. 3 = Once you have your rims purchased you can simply order the replacement tires, no matter the tire size or hardness all GPS tires fit onto the standard rim. Grand Prix wheels (tires) are for serious downhill skating where speeds in excess of 50 mph are the norm. These are serious wheels for serious speeds.
